BTS’ Suga Donates $3.66M to Launch Autism Treatment Centre in Seoul

In a heartwarming act of philanthropy, BTS’ Suga donates $3.66M (KRW 5 billion) to establish a treatment centre for children with autism spectrum disorder in Seoul. This plan was announced the famous artist, whose real name is Min Yoongi, soon after he finished his mandatory military service as a social service agent. Working together with Severance Hospital, the brand-new building will be called the Min Yoon Gi Treatment Center and is set to open in September 2025.

A Vision for Autism Support and Musical Healing

The new center will offer a range of therapies, such as language, behavioral, and psychological help. In a unique move, it will also include music in its social skills programs. Suga and Professor Chun Geun Ah, head of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Severance Hospital, came up with this idea together. They worked together for seven months to make the MIND program (Music, Interaction, Network, and Diversity), which helps kids with autism communicate and express themselves through music.

Public and BTS fans alike have moved to donate large amounts of money. after seeing Suga’s act of kindness. Within a day of the announcement. Severance Hospital said it had received over KRW 200 million in extra donations from regular people.

A Star Who Stands for Mental Health

Suga has long been open about his personal mental health journey, addressing topics like depression and emotional vulnerability in his lyrics and interviews. In a 2021 conversation with Rolling Stone, he stressed the importance of expressing emotions instead of suppressing them. His solo projects, including the raw and powerful track “AMYGDALA,” highlight issues like suicide and self-harm with honesty rarely seen in mainstream music

BTS as a group has a history of giving back—from donating $1 million to Black Lives Matter to encouraging fan-led donations worldwide. In Pakistan, BTS ARMYs have responded with medical camps and charity drives on members’ birthdays. With this autism centre, Suga once again proves that true artistry lies not just in performance, but in using fame to bring lasting, positive change.
