Diplomacy Dead: Iran Condemns U.S. Strikes on Nuclear Facilities

In a sharp escalation of the growing conflict, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that diplomacy is dead following the United States’ devastating airstrikes on Iran’s critical nuclear sites. Speaking at a press conference during the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Istanbul on June 22, 2025, Araghchi accused Washington of deliberately sabotaging ongoing negotiations.

U.S. Accused of Abandoning Diplomacy for Aggression

“”We were very involved in the talks,” Araghchi said. “It wasn’t Iran that gave up on diplomacy. The US decided to end talks with bombs instead of words. He then said that the U.S. had crossed a major line by directly attacking Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. He called the attacks an attack on Iran and on the very foundation of international diplomacy.

The U.S. launched precision airstrikes against three major nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — using B-2 Spirit stealth bombers and advanced bunker-busting munitions. President Donald Trump hailed the mission as “a spectacular military success,” claiming that Iran’s nuclear program had been crippled.

Global Law Under Threat

Araghchi said that the effects of this attack will be felt in many places, not just Iran. He said, “This is about more than problems between two countries.” “The trustworthiness of international law is at stake. People are openly going against the United Nations Charter. He asked the UN Security Council to take strong action and told world leaders to condemn what he called an illegal act of aggression and reaffirm the sovereignty of nations.
