Samsung Explores AI Wearables Like Earrings and Necklaces
Samsung is stepping into the future of consumer tech by exploring AI-powered wearable devices. These may include smart earrings, necklaces, rings, and glasses. The company aims to move beyond smartphones and create devices that let users interact with AI more naturally.
Won-joon Choi, Samsung’s COO for Mobile Experience, told CNN that the goal is to design gadgets that don’t need to be carried. Instead, they should blend into what people already wear daily.
Hands-Free, AI-Driven Tech for Everyday Use
“We believe it should be wearable—something you don’t need to carry,” Choi explained. “It could be glasses, earrings, watches, rings, or necklaces.”
This move aligns with a growing tech trend. Companies are racing to build AI-powered gadgets that require less manual input. Voice, gesture, and context-based interactions are now taking the lead over screen tapping and swiping.
Industry-Wide Competition in AI Wearables
Samsung is not alone. Meta has already sold over 2 million Ray-Ban smart glasses since 2023. The company even bought a stake in Ray-Ban’s parent firm, EssilorLuxottica. Other giants like Google and Snap are also building their own AI glasses.
OpenAI is also in the race, teaming up with former Apple designer Jony Ive on a secretive AI device. This suggests major players believe the next big tech shift will come from AI-integrated hardware.
Samsung’s Strategy: Companion Devices, Not Replacements
Unlike startups that failed with stand-alone products like the Humane AI Pin or Rabbit R1, Samsung’s AI wearables will work alongside smartphones. This companion approach is similar to how their smartwatches operate.
Choi acknowledged that some people avoid smart glasses because they alter their appearance. That’s why Samsung is considering multiple formats—from rings to earrings—to appeal to different user preferences.
Samsung Leads in Merging Fashion with Functio
While none of these concepts are confirmed products yet, Samsung is actively developing and testing ideas. Its approach suggests a focus on practical, fashionable, AI-enhanced wearables.
By combining advanced AI with everyday accessories, Samsung is positioning itself at the forefront of the next wave of tech innovation
