Trump Nears Decision on Possible U.S. Role in Iran-Israel War
Iran-Israel War: U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to decide within the next two weeks whether America will take military action in the escalating Iran-Israel conflict, according to a statement from the White House on Wednesday.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that President Trump is carefully reviewing the situation. While the military option remains on the table, diplomatic channels with Tehran are also being considered.
“Given the possibility of upcoming negotiations with Iran, the president will decide whether or not to proceed with military involvement within the next two weeks,” Leavitt said, quoting Trump’s remarks.
Following weeks of conflict including several strikes between both countries, the Iran-Israel War has escalated. The conflict has generated worldwide worries on regional stability as well as the possibility of a larger war dragging in other countries.
Leavitt stressed that U.S. security issues still centre Iran’s nuclear developments. Iran has never been closer to acquiring a nuclear weapon, she said, “We know for a fact.” As the scenario develops, intelligence agencies and the National Security Council keep giving the president regular updates.
According to the White House, President Trump maintains frequent communication with Israeli leaders, especially Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The U.S. has reiterated its strong alliance with Israel and its commitment to regional security.
“President Trump remains in constant contact with our Israeli counterparts,” Leavitt said. “He is fully briefed on Israel’s security needs and the evolving situation on the ground.”
Trump has maintained, in face of mounting pressure from both domestic and foreign observers, that, if at all feasible, he would rather see a diplomatic settlement. He has also made it abundantly evident, though, that he would not hesitate to approve military action should it be judged required.
Though war looms huge, diplomatic back channels with Iran are still under active use. Several US allies have urged Washington to give negotiations top priority in order to stop more escalation.
“President Trump has always said, first choice is diplomacy,” Leavitt said. If negotiations fail, he will, however, act forcefully to safeguard American interests and those of our allies.
Global Anxiety Over Nuclear Threat
The prospect of the Iran-Israel War turning into a full-scale regional conflict has alarmed global leaders. Many fear that military escalation could destabilize the entire Middle East and trigger severe economic and humanitarian consequences.
For now, the world waits as Trump weighs his decision. His choice in the coming weeks could shape not only the outcome of the Iran-Israel War but also the future of U.S. foreign policy in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
