US Warns Iran of ‘Dire’ Repercussions Amid Escalating Tensions with Israel
The US Warns Iran of serious consequences if they targets American’s citizens , military bases or local facilities , the warning were after Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military sites and delivered during a high level United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting. All the global leaders fear from a wider conflict may appear between Iran and Israel.
US Pledges to Defend Citizens and Regional Interests
At the UNSC, McCoy Pitt, a senior official from the US Bureau of International Organization Affairs, delivered a clear message “ our main responsibility is the protection of US citizen , officials and military units stationed in the region” He said , he warned to iran that any attacks whether direct or using proxy force would lead to “dire” outcome
The crisis escalated after Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed over 20 senior Iranian officials. Among them were Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Aerospace Force, and several leading scientists. The strikes hit military and nuclear sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan.
Iran Accuses US and Israel of Provoking Conflict
Iran’s Ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, blamed Israel for inflaming tensions and derailing diplomacy. “Israel seeks to kill diplomacy and provoke a broader conflict,” he said. Iravani also accused the US of enabling Israeli actions. “Those who support this regime, especially the US, must understand they are complicit. By backing these crimes, they share full responsibility,” he added.
In response to the Israeli strikes, Iran launched missile attacks on Tel Aviv. This retaliation has deepened the crisis and sparked global calls for restraint.
While vowing to defend its interests, Pitt said the US still sees diplomacy as a path forward. “Iran’s leadership would be wise to come to the table now,” he urged. The next round of US-Iran nuclear talks, scheduled in Oman, remains in doubt.
Earlier, President Donald Trump had given Iran a 60-day deadline to halt uranium enrichment. That deadline expired just one day before the UNSC meeting.
Rafael Grossi, Director-General of the UN’s nuclear watchdog (IAEA), confirmed the destruction of Iran’s pilot enrichment facility at Natanz. He also reported damage to sites in Fordow and Isfahan, raising fears about the safety of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
As tensions grow, the international community watches with concern. The US warns Iran once again: choose restraint, or face the consequences.
